HALEY WEBB.NET Interview
If you could work with anyone, who would it be and why?
Oh my god, that is an excellent question, if I could work with anyone it would probably be Phillip Seymore Hoffman because, god you know the list is so long on that but I would have to say Phillip because he's just brilliant.
Who inspires you?
Meryl Streep because I think she is pitch perfect in every single role that she does.
When you are doing an emotionally challenging scene, how would be prepare yourself?
Music is really important, with the scene in the movie theater (in The Final Destination) I had to get a little over the top angry and I listened to Eminem for about 2 days before hand, music does play a big part.
Can you tell us how you got involved with acting and what motivates you to keep going?
I always knew I wanted to be an actor from when I was 4 years old, I saw Jesus Christ Superstar (laughs) it was just amazing. My dad took me to see it live and he saw I was really into it so he took me to see it 4 different times, and on the 4th time when Judas hangs himself they went to intermission and the curtain landed on his neck and the actor ever so slightly reaches his arm up and over and it blew my mind. I was like "this isn't real?" But I was very, very shy so I didn't start acting until I was about 15, I got an acting coach and started auditioning. I took the train up from San Diego to LA and really busted my ass. I graduated high school early to do it because I knew it's what I wanted to do, so I started to study a lot and got into a few acting schools and stuff like that. What motivates me to do it is, you know those things, it's like breathing basically, you couldn't really live without it and you know that you have to do it to live so it's what I'm most passionate in the world. I want to get better so much because I love it and as an art form I really connect to it personally, it's the best way for me to express myself and I just so admire actors and people who do this.
If you weren't an actor, what would your dream profession be?
A dancer, yeah I wouldn't really go outside the arts (laughs)
In The Final Destination, what was the most exciting scene to film?
The car wash scene. It was scary as hell but it was great.
Any injuries while performing your stunts?
Well when I broke the window in the car, which will hopefully be on the DVD because it's *beep* sweet. I did get a small cut, and if it had gotten any deeper I would have had to gone to the hospital and that's about it.
What scares you in real life?
Losing my family and little things I guess like spiders like little jumps, surprises.
Has Hollywood had an impact on how you perceive yourself physically?
Interesting! You know, I started when I was 15 and it is difficult when you start that young to go into some of these rooms and you feel bigger than another girl, not as pretty as another girl and things like that. It takes the people around you and it takes a lot of confidence in yourself so to be honest when I first started a bit, but I quickly got over it and now no. I feel very comfortable with who I am.
Do you find it easy to watch yourself on screen?
No (laughs) to be honest this has been the easiest time, with The Final Destination and I couldn't really tell you why. I feel like the character is so removed from me so it's easier, I don't really feel like I'm watching myself, not to toot my own horn (laughs) but no I don't really find it easy but I can manage it if I really have to.
Can you describe how you felt after watching The Final Destination for the first time?
Very excited! I was relieved to be honest because the filming process was so long and the process was really long but I was really excited to see what the fans thought about it because there was such a huge buzz for it and I was really excited they were able to pull everything together.
Are you a horror fan and were you a fan of the Final Destination films before you were cast?
I was, Final Destination more so than any of the others. I wasn't really a fan of the Saw movies to be honest but I really like the story and the style of the Final Destinations with the kills and everything and I just love the idea of it being in order. I love the fact that we don't find out why these people have visions, they keep asking but there is no answer but it doesn't really matter as everyone around you is dying (laughs)
